Calder Valley Sunday League: Ravenswharfe hoping to avoid another thrashing in rematch with leaders Linthwaite

Table-topping Linthwaite Hounds are back on the road this Sunday when they head to Ravenswharfe in the Calder Valley Sunday League Premier Division.

The sides met two weeks ago with the league leaders running out 8-2 winners, however they will be without Courtney Allette this time after the striker got himself needlessly sent off in injury-time against Clifton Rangers at the weekend.

The home side are still without a win as they try and adapt to life in the top division, but they have taken two draws from their opening four fixtures.

Hollins Holme go in search of their first home win after a narrow defeat on the road last time out. Chris Garbutt getting the goal in the 2-1 defeat.

They’ll face Clifton Rangers who will look to get back to winning ways after they were also beat 2-1 by Linthwaite Hounds, Reece Wilby got the goal that brought them level before narrowly losing to the leaders. The two teams met not so long ago when Clifton won 5-2 at Leeds Road.

Park FC picked up their first point on Sunday when they drew 1-1 with Ravenswharfe and they will now try turn that into a first win when they face Feathers FC at Elland Cricket Club.

Feathers have started the season well with 11 points from their opening six games and will want to ensure they don’t slip up in this one.

The home side have been improving as they adapt to the standard of the Premier Division and could this be the weekend they get their first win.

Cock & Bottle are scheduled to face Halifax Panda again after previous postponements, including last wekeend.

Title-chasing Cock & Bottle will want to make sure they don’t slip up in a game that has often produced the goods.

Sands Lane jumped to the top of the league on goal difference when they beat Wire Works 7-2 and will look to hold onto it when they host Old Pond.

The visitors were beaten 4-1 at Lane Head by Wellington Westgate last time out and won’t want to wait too long to get back to winning ways after getting their season going.

Second placed Spen FC head to Savile Park to face Ryburn Valley as both sides look to further aid their promotion challenges.

Spen ran out comfortable winners against Clifton Rangers Reserves, Atif Basharat netting a brace in the process.

Battyeford will look to reclaim their top spot when they return to action against Halifax Panda Reserves at Calderdale College.

The hosts will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-1 defeat away to Ryburn at the weekend.

Elsewhere, Wellington Westgate host Woodhouse looking for a better result against them this time, they lost 4-3 down in Todmorden last time.

Also, Clifton Rangers Reserves are due to battle Wire Works in a repeat of the opening weekend when they played out an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Joseph Crossfield and Luke Phillips both bagged a brace in their 6-1 win on the road at the weekend.

Rangers got their first win last time out against Needless Inn, Louy Kenny netting two for the travelling side.

Mount Pleasant will look to keep the pressure on at the top when they face Pear Tree Athletic.

Pleasant put nine past Queens Head last time out, Muhammad Omar getting a hat-trick in the process.

Pear Tree will be hoping for a better performance than they put up against Lewins last time out and they will need one if they are to get anything from this one, Ping Wright netting a consolation in the 7-1 defeat.

Elsewhere in the Division, Inter Batley face Athletic with the prospect of third place and the last promotion place up for grabs.

Needless Inn go in search of their first points of the season when they head to Lewins who have a decent home record and finally Queens Head and Pellon Social Club face each other with Pellon looking to avenge their defeat to them earlier in the season.
