Could FC Halifax Town fans soon be heading back to The Shay?

It has been announced that a maximum of 4,000 fans will be allowed at outdoor sports events in the lowest-risk areas once the national lockdown has ended on December 2.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today (Monday) that which areas of the country are in which tier of restrictions will be decided and announced later this week.

Calderdale was placed into tier three before the national lockdown was imposed. If it were to be in tier three after the lockdown ends, that would mean no fans would be allowed at Halifax games.

Up to 4,000 fans, capped at a maximum of 50 per cent of stadium capacity, is set to be allowed at outdoor sports venues in the lowest-risk tier one areas when national lockdown in England ends.

For tier two it will be 2,000 fans, up to 50 per cent capacity, but in tier three, no fans will be allowed

Elite sport has continued behind closed doors during England’s four-week lockdown, but grassroots and amateur sport has been halted since 5 November.
