BRIGHOUSE Town have appointed Mick Couzens as first team manager in place of Mark Brier who quit the club earlier this month.
Couzens, who was part of the staff at Bradford Park Avenue last season, will be assisted by Barry Thomas with Mark Booth returning to the club as coach.
He began his career in 1993 when he worked in the Middle East, returning to this country in 2004 when he became the Bradford City under nines manager
He then had six years as a Manchester United Development Centre Coach before moving to Bradford Park Avenue where he was reserve and under 19 Manager.
During his time there, the under 19s won the League Cup and went on to claim the League Championship for the first time and the reserves were also crowned champions.
In 2009, Couzens became joint first team manager of Ossett Town FC in the Unibond Premier Division before switching to Guiseley where he was reserve manager, guiding the team to runners up spot in the Lancashire League.
He returned to Park Avenue as reserve and under 19 manager last season.
Newcastle have confirmed that Sol Campbell and Shefki Kuqi have left the club.
The 36-year-old former England defender and the 34-year-old one-time Finland striker have not been offered new deals after their respective short spells at St James’ Park.
A spokesman said: “Newcastle United can confirm that Shefki Kuqi and Sol Campbell have left the club. The pair are on contracts which expire this summer, and both players are free to find new clubs.
“Everyone at Newcastle thanks Shefki and Sol for their efforts while at St James’ Park and wishes them the very best for the future.”
Al Wasl have made a “new and improved offer” to sign Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan after claiming the Uruguayan wants to join them.
The ambitious Dubai-based club, who named Diego Maradona as their new coach earlier this month, had an initial bid turned down by Atletico but believe they can secure Forlan on a one-year loan deal.
