One change for Town as Stenson replaces Gilmour - ICYMI here’s my recent interview with Matty
FC Halifax Town: "I'm due something and we're due something" - Stenson dreaming of playing his part in promotion push
It would be some story if Matty Stenson was to play a pivotal role in FC Halifax Town's promotion push.
Town team
Johnson, Warren, Debrah, Bird, Senior, Green, Spence, Slew, Warburton, Stenson, Waters.
Subs: Benn, Dearnley, Gilmour, Woods, Cooke.
Team news will be in in around 5 minutes. Expecting Town to be unchanged as I would be surprised if Niall Maher is fit enough to feature, and Town were superb in their last outing on Saturday.
One to watch
Striker Daniel Whitehall has scored three goals in his last four games. The former Maidenhead forward joined Eastleigh last summer from Kilmarnock. 13 goals for Maidenhead in the 2019-20 season had earned him a move to Kilmarnock, but he struggled to hold down a regular first-team spot in Scotland.
Last five games
Eastleigh: Wrexham (a) L 3-2, Bromley (h) L 2-0, Torquay (a) D 0-0, Barnet (h) L 3-2, King’s Lynn (a) D 3-3
Halifax: Woking (h) W 2-1, Altrincham (a) D 1-1, Chesterfield (h) W 2-0, Southend (a) L 1-0, Yeovil (h) W 1-0
Bradbury
Eastleigh boss Lee Bradbury has managed a side to victory over Halifax before - he was Havant and Waterlooville boss when they beat Jamie Fullarton’s Shaymen 2-1 in March 2018
If Town do win today though, they would guarantee themselves a top four finish, and in doing so, be guaranteed a home play-off game, whether that’s in the initial eliminator tie (by finishing 4th) or in the semi-final (top three finish)
Permutations
Bit of a rabbit hole to get into BUT if Town were to win today and Solihull lost then that would mean a win against Aldershot on Saturday would be enough to seal a top three spot for The Shaymen. Of course if the opposite happens then Solihull move up into third and it then goes out of Town’s hands, but let’s not concentrate on that!
