A Leeds United supporters group is trying to meet up with Hollywood actor Russell Crowe to discuss a fans’ takeover of the club.
Last week Mr Crowe made headlines when he asked his Twitter followers whether it would be a good idea to buy the Elland Road outfit.
And now supporters group Leeds Fans LLP said it hoped to meet the Hollywood A-lister next month to discuss the idea.
In a statement Leeds Fans LLP said: “Russell is back in the UK next month and we will try to get a face to face to see if we can get something more concrete from him.”
Leeds LLP has already made contact with Mr Crowe, who asked them to watch a six-episode show of the work he has done as co-owner of Australian NRL side South Sydney Rabbitohs.
However, Leeds LLP has said Mr Crowe is not the only person they are in contact with regarding fan ownership of the club.
The statement continued: “While the Russell Crowe activity did raise our profile even more, it’s important to note that he’s one of many people that we’re in touch with about fan ownership.”
LLP is limited liability partnership which will invite Leeds supporters to become partners by buying stakes worth £100. A maximum of 100,000 stakes are to be made available with fans able to buy up to 1,000, with each stake worth one vote.
