FC Halifax Town 2-0 Kidderminster: Heath hails a '˜big three points'

Halifax moved above Kidderminster up to fourth in the National League North table with the victory thanks to goals from substitutes Matty Kosylo and Richard Peniket, sandwiched either side of a second booking for Harriers’ Tyrone Williams..

Heath said: “We scored the first goal before they went down to 10-men so we were 1-0 up.

“To be fair, it unsettled us a bit when they lost their man.

“I don’t think we really played after that.

“But I thought we started the second-half well. We’ve been quite slow coming out for the second-half on a couple of occasions at home, and we wanted to make sure we started the second-half right.

“It’s a big three points. I said to the players it was a big, big game.

“It’s just about winning the game and coming out on the right side.”

Heath praised the efforts of Kosylo in working his way back to fitness from a knee injury, and felt there was little to choose between the teams.

“It got broken up a bit by the referee but it was just two good sides,” Heath said.

“There wasn’t a lot of quarter given and there were challenges going in. It was bitty.

“But I thought we were certainly as good as them in the first-half.

“There weren’t any clear cut chances for both sides and I said to the players ‘this could be a 1-0’.

“We miss the penalty, it comes back out and Matty scores. He’s worked tremendously hard because he’s been injured for a long time.

“Testament to him because his fitness levels are really good.

“We got ourselves in front but we didn’t really play after the sending-off - I think it affected us more than them.

“The goal was good at the end for Richard. We thought we needed a bit more legs to stretch them.”

Kosylo replaced Josh Macdonald during the first-half, with the Town winger forced off after sustaining a bizarre injury.

“He’s had a sore toe,” Heath explained. “He did it at home. He was going back upstairs and shunted his toe - you can’t write it can you!

“So it was sore before the game but he said it felt OK.

“We put him out there and it got inflamed again so we had to make the change.”
