It has also been announced that striker Jamie Allen has agreed a new two-year deal at The Shay.

Both players’ contracts expired this summer.

Town boss Pete Wild told the club’s website: “I’m delighted Nathan has re-signed. Nathan is a crucial part of what we are trying to build both on and off the pitch.

“I want players who lead by example and he certainly does this.

“His experience is vital and he is someone whose opinions I really value.

“In order to take this club to the next level of its journey we need Nathan to help guide us there.

“He’ll now become the new club captain and fans should be very proud to have one of their own leading the team.

“When I use the phrase go the extra mile, Nathan is that player in abundance.”

And on Allen, Wild said: “I’m really pleased to secure Jamie’s services for the long term.

“Jamie is an exciting player, he gets you off your seat with his pace and power.

“Jamie has developed well in the last 12 months and we think there is still more to come.

“Jamie again is a character that fits what we want and I’m sure he will have us off our seats many times again over the next two years.”
