FC Halifax Town: Draw was a fair result, says Miller

FC Halifax Town assistant manager Tommy Miller felt a draw was the right result after their 0-0 draw with Gateshead in the FA Trophy.

It was the first goalless draw for Town under manager Jim Harvey, and Miller didn’t think either team’s attack were good enough on the day.

“I think we created a few opportunities in the first-half, although there weren’t many clear chances in the game,” he said.

“First-half we looked threatening, second-half it went a bit scrappy and the draw’s probably a fair result.

“There were a few formation changes as the game went on from both teams.

“We tried different things but we couldn’t break each other down.”

Miller believed both clubs’ defences performed well.

“I think both teams defended well,” he said, “there were crosses going into the box, a couple of ricochets, a few shots from the edge of the box, but in general I think both teams defended very well.

“Maybe both teams set-up not to get beat and now we go again on Wednesday.”

Miller felt the return of Neil Aspin added an extra incentive to the Town squad.

He added: “All the lads were ready for it.

“They were pumped up, they know what it means.

“With the ex-manager coming back here, he would have had them fired up so we had to match that, and I think we did.

“I think both teams cancelled each other out.”
