FC Halifax Town: Heath fears Hone could be sidelined

Hone was out for a few weeks last season with the same injury while at North Ferriby, and manager Billy Heath fears the centre-back has suffered the same fate again.

Hone was forced off in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Gloucester along with midfielders David Lynch and Jordan Sinnott.

Those enforced changes came just days after Heath had commented about finally having 18 fit senior players to choose from following a number of injuries.

“Famous last words,” said the Town boss ruefully. “Honey doesn’t look good. He’s done his medial ligament by the look of it.

“It’s an old injury from last season and it looks as if he’s opened it out again.

“Last time it was a long period he was out for so obviously we’ve got problems there.

“Fingers crossed Sinnott should be OK. It’s just cramp so I’m hoping it’s OK.

“He stayed out there as long as he could but we didn’t want him breaking down.

“Lynchy just got a dead leg. It was a bad one for him to have to come off the pitch because he’s a warrior and he didn’t want to come off.

“He tried to have a go.

“Hopefully we can settle that down. I would expect him and Sinnott to be fine for Saturday, but I think Honey’s going to be long-term.

“It’s not what we need because we’ve just got Matty Brown back but he’s not ready yet.

“He may be forced back quicker than we thought.”
