FC Halifax Town boss Pete Wild is expecting a completely different game for the second installment of their festive trilogy with Hartlepool United on Boxing Day.

The Shaymen edged past The Pools on penalties in the FA Trophy last Saturday after a 3-3 draw.

They then beat Eastleigh 3-1 on Tuesday night, with Saturday’s trip to Hartlepool Town’s third game in 15 days, preceding home fixtures against Altrincham and Hartlepool again.

“It’s a really important time of the year for us, a tough time of the year because the games come thick and fast,” said Wild.

“We’re thin on numbers again with injuries and suspensions but we’ve just got to keep churning the results out, churning the games out and hopefully we can stay injury free.

“I expect both teams to make changes for the game (from the FA Trophy match), and I expect a completely different game.

“I’ve said that to the players, not to read anything into what happened on Saturday, I’m sure it will be a completely different contest come Boxing Day.”

When asked if he will be giving his squad Christmas Day off, Wild said: “They’ll have programmes to do on Christmas Day, whether that’s with us or at home is yet to be decided.”

And on the quick turnaround between Town’s Boxing Day game and Monday’s clash with Altrincham, Wild said: “There’ll be a recovery programme sent round that they’ll need to complete and report in with.

“There’ll probably be a meeting Sunday night about Altrincham so the players are prepared for Monday.”
