Midfielder Nathan Hotte made his first appearance in over a month as a substitute in Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Macclesfield, while Scott McManus also came off the bench in that game after it was thought he may be out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring problem, the same injury that had afflicted Hotte

“It was good to get him on the field,” Heath said of Hotte, “because he’s been out a long time, and it was good to give him that 25 minutes.

“We can train as much as we want but game time is paramount.

“With Browny’s (Matty Brown) ongoing back problem Nathan could have to play (on Saturday).

“We assess him (Brown) after every game because unfortunately for us we can’t take Matty Brown out of the side for three weeks, which is probably what he needs.

“But he’s our skipper and an important part of our squad.”

On McManus, Heath said: “He said he was fit enough. I’m surprised he came through.

“He had a problem with his hamstring. When we played at Dover it was a gamble with him but we had to gamble at Dover.

“But he’s had a good rest and he came through without a reaction so far.

“One or two are carrying stuff, and Cliff (Moyo) has a thigh strain, but hopefully that will clear up quickly.

“He’s probably unlikely to play on Saturday but we’ll see.”
