FC Halifax Town: It was nowhere near good enough, says Brown

The Shaymen suffered their heaviest defeat of the season at the weekend, and Brown admitted afterwards that Halifax fell well short on the day.

“It wasn’t good enough. We said before the game that we’d had a good week, and now let’s cap it off,” said Brown.

“But it wasn’t good enough, the standards weren’t there.

“The first goal is obviously hand ball, but things go against you, and it’s how you react to it.

“The lad’s put a free-kick into the top corner, you can’t legislate for that, but up until those two goals it was even.

“But then it just felt like it was going to be a rout. And it’s the second time it’s happened now, after Maidenhead away.

“Individually and collectively we’ve got to be a lot better. We’ve got to let that hurt to bounce back, but it’s nowhere near good enough.

“I can accept getting beat but not in that fashion. It’s not us.

“There was no identity from us, nothing that’s been getting us success in the past few games.

“I’m gutted for the fans who made the effort to travel. It’s a bitter way to finish the week having had two good results.

“But it’s gone now, and it’s how we bounce back.

“We’ve got a break from the league, but we need to let that hurt and sink in how it feels, and start to put things right.”
