The Stockport forward’s loan move to Halifax was announced yesterday (Monday), but had to be put on hold due to a Covid outbreak at his parent club.

“Nyal’s a lad I’ve known since he was a youth team player at Rochdale,” said Wild.

“He can give us pace and somebody to play into.

“He covers both facets of what we want from our set of centre-forwards.

“He’s somebody we’ve been working on for maybe two weeks now but with Stockport having Covid it’s been tough to get him in.

“But we finally got our man. He’ll join us for 28 days while we make sure we consolidate and make sure we make the right decisions on a more long-term replacement for Matty Stenson.”

Wild added: “It’s probably been the longest loan deal in history, it’s taken a long time for it to get sorted out but thankfully, because we’re good friends with Stockport, they’ve looked after us and honoured their deal.

“He’ll certainly bring a lot to the squad while our centre-forwards get fitter and stronger, and get more up to speed of where we need them to be.”

Bell is now in contention to make his Town debut at Sutton on Saturday, but when asked whether the striker would go straight into the side, Wild said: “We’ll have to see, we need to make sure we get the right balance.

“I also think Gevaro (Nepomuceno) is getting better and better every day in training, he’s looked really lively this week so he can’t be discarded either.

“I’ve got some really good options, I’ve got four good options for Saturday and it’s about me making sure I make the right decisions.”
