Don’t let your hard work go to waste - that is the message from Town boss Pete Wild ahead of back-to-back home games for The Shaymen.

Town picked up four points from two testing away games at Bromley and Wrexham over the last few days, and host Maidenhead on Saturday before the rearranged clash with Hartlepool on Tuesday.

“They’ve got to back it up now, don’t let your hard work go to waste,” said the Town boss.

“You’ve fought all December, and you’ve fought all January to keep yourselves in and around where you want to be, don’t be half-a-yard off and come away thinking ‘if only’.

“Just keep doing what you’re doing, don’t get carried away, don’t look at league tables, because they’re irrelevant, just concentrate on us, don’t worry about anyone else.

“That’ll be the message going into Saturday, make sure we’re at our best to do what we can control, and that’s a performance against Maidenhead.”

Town are in the middle of a busy spell, with another two games in the space of four days after three games in eight days, ending with Tuesday’s draw at Wrexham.

“I’ve got some tired bodies and they’re probably hardly going to do anything until Saturday now,” he said.

“It’s testament to how they behave away from the club and how they look after their bodies how they’re performing.

“But that’s all in recruitment, you recruit people who you think are going to push the professionalism within the club, and that’s what we’ve done.”

Wild is happy with the progress from his side.

“Yeah I’m pleased. 27 points from 19 games, that’s not a bad return,” he said.

“We’re progressing nicely, I don’t think we’re the finished article by any means.

“We’re not going to get carried away with ourselves but I think we’re progressing nicely.”

On Saturday’s opponents Maidenhead, Wild said: “It’s going to be more of the same, I think we’ll have three identical games in a week.

“They’ve done really well this year, they started really well.

“I’ve seen them a couple of times when I’ve been watching other teams.

“You know what’s coming and it’s more of what you’ve had at Bromley and what we had at Wrexham.”
