FC Halifax Town: Reaching final an emotional moment, says chairman

Halifax came through a tense game against Nantwich last Saturday, losing 2-1 until a last-minute own goal finally calmed the nerves around The Shay.

“It certainly wasn’t the best performance. In that first-half we just didn’t turn up, whether it was nerves or what,” he said.

“We allowed them to get on the ball and they used it really well.

“But it’s all about getting the result. We obviously did part of the job at Nantwich when we got a two-goal lead to bring back to The Shay.

“You’re going to have sticky spells over a two-legged cup game and we had a long sticky spell in that first-half.

“But we’ve got there.

“It hasn’t quite sunk in yet. I felt my lips quivering a bit just at the end of the game.

“It’s fantastic.”

Bosomworth is calling on the people of Calderdale to support The Shaymen for their big day out at Wembley on May 22.

“It’s fantastic for Calderdale and for the profile of the town.

“It’s not been overly blessed with success. After the recent floods, everybody wants a bit of good news to cheer about and look forward to.

“All we ask now is that these opportunities don’t come around often - it might be another 105 years until it happens again - so please support us.

“Even the grannies and the aunts, it’s a day out in London for everyone, so give the blue and white a big cheer and let’s see what we can do.”
