The 34-year-old Scot, who has two Scotland under 21 caps, has made more than 300 senior appearances and adds some experience and nous to the Town squad, joining them as a central midfielder having started his career as a left-winger.

Woods started his career at Leeds United, making one senior appearance, and being sent out on loan to Hartlepool.

After leaving Elland Road, he joined Sunderland on a free transfer, playing for them in the Premier League, before going on to play for Rotherham and Doncaster, where he made over 100 appearances.

He then joined Barnsley before going north of the border to play for Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

A brief switch to Shrewsbury in 2015 was soon followed by a move back to Ross County for a further two years, where he won the Scottish League Cup.

He then moved to Partick, again in the Scottish Premiership, and spent the 2018-19 season at top-flight side Dundee, where he was captain.
