The attacker scored three times in 32 league games for Town last season after joining from Dover.

His capture was one of the final acts of Jamie Fullarton’s reign last summer, before Pete Wild took over less than two weeks before the start of the campaign and went on to guide The Shaymen into the National League play-offs.

“I enjoyed it, we did well collectively, so that’s why I’m buzzing to stay for this season and next,” said Allen.

“I wanted to come back up north when I was at Dover and I knew about Halifax, their ground and their fans.

“I think it’s a sleeping giant of a club so when I knew they were interested it was a no-brainer.

“Jamie (Fullarton) brought me in but I only had a few training sessions with him, a friendly, and then when Pete came in, he took to me and I had minutes under my belt last season.

“I enjoyed the way things have gone.

“I don’t think anybody could’ve expected it (finishing in the play-offs) could they, but it’s a massive statement.

“And this season, I think a lot more teams are going to respect us more because they know what we’re capable of.”

Allen featured primarily as a right-winger over the first-half of the campaign before playing as part of a front two when selected in the latter half.

“I think I did well,” reflected the former Southport and Fleetwood man, who started Town’s play-off defeat at Boreham Wood in July.

“The gaffer and Milly (Chris Millington) know I can play on the wing or I can do a job up-front if needed.

“That’s ideal for me as well because I’ve got more chance of playing if I can play in more than one position, which I can.

“I think we’re only going to get better, which is a massive part of why I’ve stayed.”

Allen believes he can develop as a player under the guidance of Wild and Millington.

When asked where he thinks he can progress, he said: “Everywhere really, in every aspect. There’s always room for improvement.

“If there wasn’t I’d be playing a lot higher.

“I can progress everywhere and I’m open to listening and learning every day on the training ground.

“I’m sure my game will progress.”

Allen says Town fans can expect more from him over the next two seasons.

“I don’t think they’ve seen the best of me yet,” he said.

“I think I just need a good consistent run of games in one position maybe.

“But there’s definitely more to come.”I can’t wait to get going now. I’m buzzing.”
