FC Halifax Town boss Pete Wild has urged the football authorities to decide how the season will end as the wait for a conclusion drags on.

It is now more than three weeks since the National League announced they would delay their decision until the Football League decides how they will conclude the season.

But The Shaymen, and other clubs competing for promotion from the fifth tier, are still waiting to hear what will happen.

The latest twist in the saga came last Thursday when the EFL said clubs would still be promoted and relegated across their divisions even if the season is cancelled.

“The news from the EFL offers a bit of hope but that’s all it is,” said Wild.

“A resolution to all leagues needs to happen now.

“A lot of clubs are finding it difficult financially, and a lot of clubs need to know where they stand.

“There needs to be some clarity yesterday, basically. Stringing it out is detrimental to everybody and not helping anybody anymore.”

Wild said there would be a lot of work to be done if The Shaymen were to take part in a play-off campaign.

“That’s why I think there needs to be a decision quickly because the implications of going back to training means there will be a lot to discuss, a lot for us as a club to put in place.

“So we need to know as soon as possible so we can get our own house in order.

“We need guidance from the National League about what we’ll need to do to go back, which isn’t a click-your-fingers job, that takes some careful planning and organisation.

“And if not, we need to be able to tell the players because they need to be able to plan their lives.

“I think we’ve come to a point now where people need telling and things need deciding now.”
