FC Halifax Town: Upcoming FA Trophy opponents Southport go into self-isolation

Southport, who FC Halifax Town face in the FA Trophy next Saturday, have announced that their squad have gone into isolation until January 12 due to Covid cases in their squad.

That means their game against Darlington on Saturday has had to be postponed.

A statement on the Southport website said: “Southport Football Club can confirm that two players have returned positive Covid-19 test results. The players reported symptoms on Monday 4th January and attended for a PCR test soon after.

“After consultation between our Covid Medical Officer, Dr Adele Farell, and the Leagues Medical Officer, Dr Humphreys our squad will now enter a period of isolation until midnight on Tuesday 12th January 2021.

“As a direct result of this, our match against Darlington on Saturday 9th January 2021 has now been postponed. We would like to thank Darlington for their understanding.

“We wish the player’s involved a full and speedy recovery.”
