Chris Millington's programme notes

"We have begun to take the bold step of signing longer term contracts with these young players. This has two consequences, the first is that we can sig players younger (prolonging the development period) and allow the players to develop through the loan strategy and the second consequence is that we will benefit from having their services as they approach their prime."

Chris Millington's programme notes

"We have such an impressive track record of developing young players that our aim has to be to secure those players over a longer period so that we benefit more from that development."

Chris Millington's programme notes

"We have assessed how best to increase the impact of our budget, given our status as one of the youngest teams in the division it is clear the strategy has to have a long term vision."

Chairman's programme notes

"The net effect was our lowest gate of the season being 636 with a hundred travelling across the Pennines and a likely drop of 500 from the 1100 who may have attended on the Saturday. Exiting both cup competitions at the first time of asking and thereby losing out on potential prize money and with costs still rising, we need to ensure we have had as-well supported fixtures as possible against Rochdale and of course against Alty."

Chairman's programme notes

"For many of the clubs in the National League it is a huge financial challenge currently, for some more than others. We are finding it hard currently, with few funds coming in. Last month was only a two home game month, with one being a Tuesday night. This month (December) we have lost the Solihull fixture to the freeze and then lost our Saturday fixture against Alty in the FA Trophy due to waterlogging."

Today's National League fixtures

Eastleigh v Dagenham & Redbridge

FC Halifax Town v Altrincham

Oxford City v Dorking Wanderers

Woking v Aldershot Town

York City v Gateshead

So after a pitch inspection this morning, it's game on at The Shay as Town start the New Year the same way they started the last one - at home to Altrincham. It was a 2-2 draw that day, which wouldn't be a bad result today but I think Town will have another win in their sights to back up their strong form of late, including the Boxing Day win at Alty. As for the visitors, they'll be determined I'm sure to give a much better account of themselves than they produced in that game, in which they were second best in every department. Expecting better from them today
