In the opposition dugout
Andy Peaks joined Tamworth in February 2022 with the task to ensure The Lambs' survival in the Southern League Premier Division and took them on an unbeaten run of 14 games before the season ended. He then won promotion into the National League North before securing a back-to-back promotion last season into the fifth tier.
In the league this season
Halifax: 11th - PL12 W4 D5L 3 F12 A10 GD2 Pts17
Tamworth: 17th - PL11 W4 D2 L5 F12 A19 GD-7 Pts14
Today's ref
Tom Reeves has shown 21 yellow cards and one red card in seven games so far this season. He last took charge of Town when they won 2-1 at Maidenhead in May 2021.
Shaymen
The interesting choices team selection wise today are whether Cummings keeps his place or Alimi-Adetoro comes back in at centre-half, and whether Cooke or Oluwabori start on the left - assuming Max Wright starts on the right and Florent Hoti starts in the number ten role. Would have thought Bray will line-up alongside Scott High in the absence of Jack Evans, but it could depend on whether Angelo Cappello has recovered from his hamstring strain from the end of the Newcastle game as to whether Ryan Galvin starts at left back.
Last time they met
Town's last game against Tamworth was a 6-2 win on Sat, Jan 14, 2017. Team - Drench, Roberts, Garner, Hotte, Macdonald, Clarke (Moyo 59), Lynch (King 45), Kosylo, Wilde, Peniket, Morgan (Simmons 82). Scorers: Peniket (2), Kosylo (2), Morgan (2)
Thoughts
Any Town fans turning today expecting a straightforward win should disabuse themselves of that notion. Yes, Tamworth aren’t competing at the top of the table but they’ve got some decent results so far this season and have won 3 of their last 4. They should arrive at The Shay fairly calm and confident and will probably fancy their chances of getting something. Town can’t go into this half hearted or anything other than 100 per cent committed and focused, or they’ll struggle

Chris Millington's programme notes
“Thanks for your support, I thank Coops, all the staff and the players for their incredible commitment in my absence and now I am determined to do what is necessary to see us achieve our objectives in 2024-25.”
Chris Millington's programme notes
“To have succeeded in all the achievements mentioned above whilst also winning the FA Trophy and securing a play-off finish is what should be praised and with that in mind I want the whole town to get behind the club in supporting what can be another successful campaign. We have to be together as a club and we have to believe in what is possibe for our club.”
Chris Millington's programme notes
“The chairman provides a stable and secure environment for everyone to work in enabling us to be successful in spite of our constraints. Steve Nichol, Lou and Tony Allan all benefit from this environment but also give a great deal and make sacrifices to serve the club.”
Chris Millington's programme notes
“We are the youngest squad in the league and we we regularly field the youngest starting 11 in the division, a fact we should be proud of and encouraged by. We have managed to secure 5 and 6 figure offers for player sales in the last 2 transfer windows whilst also turning down offers for other players within the squad. The quality and age of the squad will also attract further significant offers going forward providing much needed income for the club.”
Chris Millington's programme notes
“Off the pitch we have built a very talented squad. The technical ability throughout the squad has given us the chance to evolve to a more possession based style. We have made a concerted effort to recruit a strong foundation of Yorkshire players, we now have a significant number of first team players who originate from Yorkshire.”
Chris Millington's programme notes
“It is encouraging that we are ahead of where we were and in touching distance of the play-offs. Considering the disruption injuries in August caused, the loss of Thompson-Sommers at the end of the transfer window and then my absence through illness could have caused it is fantastic to report that we are 2 points ahead of where we were this time last season.”
