"Form is good both home and away" - FC Halifax Town v Torquay United: Opposition Focus
We spoke to Guy Henderson from the Herald Express for the lowdown on FC Halifax Town's opponents on Saturday.
Today’s ref
Andrew Miller has shown 50 yellow cards and one red card in nine National League games so far this season, as well as awarding three penalties.
He took charge of Halifax’s 3-1 home win against Southend United back in September, a game in which he showed ten yellow cards. Also officiated Town’s 2-1 FA Trophy defeat to Notts County in February.
Gilmour
No Harvey Gilmour among the Town players not involved warming up on the Shay pitch. That must mean he’s either picked up an injury or he’s back in the matchday squad, possibly in place of the injured Jamie Allen?
Town team
We’ll know for sure at 2pm but will be interesting to see what, if any, changes Pete Wild makes to his side. Would be Martin Woods’ third start in eight days if he keeps his place - he’s playing well but obviously one of the veterans of the team and has Kian Spence waiting to possibly take his place. Jordan Slew isn’t in the best form, so his place could be under threat with Zak Dearnley knocking on the door. And Jamie Allen went off injured last time out so Dearnley could also come in for him. One thing PW does have is options.

Thoughts
If Town win today they’ll make it five league wins in a row for the first time since The Shaymen achieved the same feat under Neil Aspin in August 2014. And who would back against them? Torquay in decent form themselves and have some very good players like Lemonheigh-Evans and Little, but Town were excellent on Tuesday in the 1-0 win over Bromley, and look to have some real momentum behind them. Plus Pete Wild had great competition for places, with some very good players just vying for places on the bench. A lot of positive signs at the moment, which would all be underlined by another three points this afternoon.
