“We’re hopeful of the one I’ve been working on for a while by the end of the week,” he said.

“It’s taken a bit more time than I thought.”

That leaves two spaces to be filled in the squad, one of which will be a second goalkeeper.

“That other one will come in right at the end of pre-season when we fathom out where we maybe need a bit more cover,” Wild said.

“We just want to see where we might be short of if we pick up any injuries, just before we start committing to that last place.”

When asked if he would be bringing anyone in on loan, Wild said: “Maybe that last position, or the sub goalkeeper.

“We’re just keeping our options open on both of them.

“We’ve got the nucleus of the squad now, it’s now making sure we get those last couple of positions right.”

Wild said he has retained one of the trialists who featured against both Clitheroe and Guiseley to remain with the squad.

“There’s one left from last week that we’re persevering with at the moment,” he said.

“There’s another couple joined us this week that may feature at the weekend, that’s to be decided.

“We had a goalkeeper in last week, and we’ve got a couple more in this week to see how they do, and then we’ll make our decision on where we go with that sub goalkeeper role.”

On transfer-listed duo Jacob Hanson and Matty Brown, Wild said: “We’re hopeful of something happening there, there’s been a couple of interested parties, but nothing concrete at the moment.”
