Wing-back Danny Williams and midfielder Martin Woods appear nearest to a return to action, with midfielder Reuben Noble-Lazarus and striker Jake Hyde not too far behind them.

“Danny Williams will probably be in contention (for Saturday), his ankle was swollen so we’re icing it to try and get him back in contention,” Wild said.

“Woodsy’s (Martin Woods) progressing nicely, Reuben (Noble-Lazarus) and Jake Hyde were warming up with the team on Tuesday, so they’re getting ever closer.

“Within the next seven days I’d like to think I’ll have at least four to add to the squad.”

On captain Nathan Clarke, Wild said: “He’s back in full rehab now so he can ramp up his rehab, but I think we’re quite a bit off yet.”

When asked if he will have enough options should he wish to make any changes, Wild said: “We’ll see, it’s a catch 22 isn’t it. Lads want to play because they’ve done well and they’ve earned their shirt, and if I take them out they feel like I’m punishing them.

“So I’ll look at the boys on Friday morning and see who’s ready to go.

“But we’re getting back to where we can maybe have selection headaches, which is brilliant.”
