Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the current lockdown measures across the country will be in place for three weeks, and that they will be reviewed at the end of this period.

This means that they are due to be reviewed on Monday, April 13, at the end of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

And Wild thinks that time-frame will be adhered to by the National League in deciding how to resolve the rest of the campaign.

Wild said: “I can’t see a decision (being made) until after Easter Monday, when the three-week lockdown is reviewed.

“Having spoken to people this week, I don’t think anybody can do anything until they understand what will happen then.

“That’s a crucial day in the calendar in my opinion to see what will happen.”

Wild also thinks the National League will follow whatever decision is taken by the Premier League and Football League on the rest of the 2019-20 season.

All divisions below the National Leagues North and South have declared their seasons null and void.

The latest update on what is happening in Halifax’s league was a statement issued earlier this week announcing the indefinite suspension of the league.

Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter released a statement on his club’s website last week saying: “The National League...want to find any way possible to finish this season and they would in an ideal world, like to restart and finish this season’s league program between say June, July, August or even September of this year, government guidelines permitting.”

Wild believes most of the teams in the National League are in favour of resuming the season, but doesn’t think the fact that all divisions below the National League North and South have declared their seasons null and void will impact the National League’s decision.

“No, I don’t think so. I think the National League has to follow suit with the Football League.

“In my opinion, the two biggest jumps in football are National League to League Two and Championship to Premier League.

“I think it’s imperative we finish.”

On the prospect of playing some games behind-closed-doors if and when the season resumes, Wild said: “It’s not ideal but if it’s a way of finishing the season then so be it.

“It’s not something that would be great because if there’s no supporters there’s nobody watching the games, but if that’s how it has to be then fair enough, because there has to be a conclusion to the season.”
