The Shaymen lost 2-1 on Friday, having led 1-0 at half-time through Tobi Sho-Silva’s opener.

“For 60 minutes we did well, we just ran out of gas,” Wild reflected.

“We put so much into that first 60 minutes.

“They had a good, sustained period and scored off a deflected goal.

“We tried to put fresh legs on to withhold them, try to take it to pens, but unfortunately got done off a set-piece.

“We then had a go to try and get a goal but fair play to them, they withstood the pressure.

“All in all, no qualms about the result. I’m just really proud of our efforts.”

Wild revealed Town’s planned friendly game for the Saturday before the Boreham Wood game fell through.

“We had a bit of a training game against York on Tuesday (July 14),” he said.

“We had a game in place but things happened that meant the game had to be cancelled, not from our side, so we were then scrapping around trying to sort something out.

“We had a friendly in place, but it got pulled from under us on Friday dinner-time.”

Boreham Wood did play a friendly on the previous Saturday, but Wild doesn’t feel Town’s lack of a friendly had any bearing on the result.
“Look at how the goals were scored, they tell you it was a tight contest. Unfortunately they just got the better of us,” he said.
