FC Halifax Town: Wild set to decide on future of forwards this week

FC Halifax Town boss Pete Wild says he will decide on the future of forwards Gold Omotayo and Gevaro Nepomuceno this week.

The pair joined Town four weeks ago on short-term contracts to provide attacking options after Jake Hyde and Matty Stenson both picked up injuries in pre-season.

But neither has managed to find the net in five appearances.

“Decisions will be made on both of them this week,” said Wild.

“They were thrown into it. They’re two excellent lads, I know Gevaro from my previous club, and they’ve had to sink or swim.

“Obviously both of them haven’t scored any goals, they’ve both had a lot of chances to score goals, so we now need to think about what we do with both those players.”

Town have only scored once in their last four games, but Wild says being deprived of his two main strikers, Hyde and Stenson, has been a major factor.

“The people I brought in to score goals obviously haven’t played, so I haven’t got anybody that we originally put our money into to score goals,” he said.

“Jake Hyde’s had two 30 minutes but nowhere near what he needs to be.

“But we know when we get them back they’ll bring goals to us, we know that getting into the final third’s not a problem, we’ve created chance after chance after chance.

“Unfortunately we’re not taking them at the moment. We brought into two lads who’d had no pre-season to fill that void, it was a rush to get them in.

“Jamie Allen’s acquitted himself fantastically well but he just now needs some support to score the goals.

“We all know the problem but if we weren’t creating chances I’d be very worried. I think our play in general over the six games has been excellent into the final third.

“We just now need that last little bit to put the goals away. If you don’t score goals then you get what we got on Saturday where the defence can’t keep looking after us week after week.”
