The Scunthorpe striker joined Town on a month’s loan last week, and made his debut as a second-half substitute in the 2-2 draw at Bromley on Saturday.

Wootton, 21, joined Scunthorpe as a 10-year-old, and has scored five goals in 42 games for The Iron.

He has also played for Lincoln, North Ferriby, Cheltenham and Stevenage on loan, scoring six times in 48 matches during his collective appearances with them.

“You look at someone who can come in and add something different to what you’ve already got,” Fullarton said.

“Kyle only joined us on Friday, but I think even in the short time he was on the pitch (at Bromley) showed us what he will add, and how he will help impact other players’ performance and bring other players into the game.

“He’ll offer different options. I know Kyle from his youth team days at Scunthorpe. He’s had a number of loans so he understands the level.

“From a physical aspect and from what his strengths are, he complements and supplements what we’ve already got.

“He’s a good addition for us. I was pleased to get him. I tried to get him back in February/March when I first came in, and Graham Alexander, who wad their manager at the time, said no.

“So it’s not something that has just come up this week or last. I’m pleased to have him in the building, and he gives us a different option as we move forward.”
