Nearly 40 teams from Calderdale primary schools will compete in qualifiers with finals taking place at North Bridge Leisure Centre across January and February. At the completion of the Halifax finals one boys team and one girls team from local schools will progress to regional competition as the representative of FC Halifax Town.

Should the local schools have success at the regional competitions they will go on to play at Wembley before the National League Promotion Play-off Final in May

FC Halifax Town have partnered with Brooksbank School’s ‘Games Organisers’ to deliver the Halifax based competition, and will visit the school to teach their players the rules of Futsal.

Steve Nichol, Head of Youth, Junior and Community Football Development said: “The project is being supported with a grant awarded by The National League Trust, community sponsors RSA and FC Halifax Town. We hope to build on the success of our previous event and continue to introduce more children to our coaching programme.

“The community, academy and youth group at FC Halifax is currently working with over 300 players every week as part of a club training program. The ‘Match-day Experience’ package we deliver has seen over 250 attendants this season and this cup competition could engage over 1,000 school children in Calderdale.”
