A youthful FC Halifax Town side progressed to the West Riding County Cup semi final after a victory over Albion Sports at the Horsfall Stadium.
On a bitterly cold night in Bradford, boss Neil Aspin took the opportunity to give most of his first team squad the night off and allow members of the U19 squad a chance to impress.
Full-backs Jake Kenny and Ghorji Hanbury and impressive striker Benny Igiehon all started for the Shaymen, with Josh Messer, George Wysocki and Sylbert Stewart all coming off the bench for their first competitive games for the Shaymen.
They were joined by first teamers Phil Bolland, Paul Marshall, Chris Worsley, Alex Johnson and Dan Gardner - who opened the scoring from the penatly spot on 34 minutes after Johnson was pulled back.
Johnson and Worsley both had half chances in the opening 45 and Graeme Sides drew a save from Senior but neither side was able to create anything clear cut.
But Town looked better at the start of the second and could have put the game to bed had Johnson, Igiehon or Abadaki taken any of their chances.
They finally got their second, from the spot again, when Alex Johnson stroked the ball into the bottom corner after Osebi Abadaki was felled following a jinking run.
In a game which was well contested but far from dirty, Albion had five players booked - four for dissent.
Aspin said afterwards: “I thought the young players did very well considering the level of football they’re playing at and coming into a difficult game.
“They’ve not played at this level before and I think they did very well.
“We certainly needed them because we were able to rest the players who played for us on Saturday against Altrincham and we needed them to play tonight and they’ve done a very good job for us.
Town return to league action on Saturday when they host Solihull Moors at the Shay.
On that game, Aspin added: “We know we’ve got pressure to win games and we need to pick up as many points as possible.
“Obviously we’ve not done too badly to be taking two points a game but the teams at the top are doing better than that.
“Solihull are on a good run and have had decent results so it’s a tough game.”
