Town boss Neil Aspin praised goalscorers Dale Johnson and Paul Marshall after Town’s 3-1 win over Oxford.
Top scorer Johnson signed from Droylsden in the summer and Marshall joined after a spell at Port Vale as part of Aspin’s summer shake-up.
And after both players got on the scoresheet against City, Aspin said he was pleased with the way the pair had started life as Shaymen.
“I rate Dale as a player,” he said. “He’s a good footballer.”
“He’s technically good and receives the ball well into his feet and I know he will score goals. To get four in the first five games, baring in mind he hasn’t played all the minutes, is a good return.”
Marshall got his first goal in Town colours last Saturday with a 25 yard effort which went in off the post.
“Paul Marshall has been very good since he came to the club,” Aspin said.
“His attitude has been great and I think he’s going to flourish by playing regularly. It’s not something he’s done a lot over the last few years and I said to him at the start of the season that if he can settle down and play week in, week out, then he will develop as a player because he’s certainly got ability - and it was a really good strike for the goal.”
Town travel take on joint league leaders Chester at the Exacta Stadium tomorrow night.
