Life after Billy Heath begins for FC Halifax Town ehen they host Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday (3pm).

Heath left the club on Wednesday after 20 months in charge, with Town 19th in the National League, four points above the relegation zone.

Caretaker-manager Neil Young is the club’s Head of Scouting, and last took charge of a game in August 2016 before resigning as Altrincham boss.

It will be an unexpected return to the dugout for Young, who announced his retirement from management after leaving Altrincham, and reiterated that football management was behind him when taking the scouting job at The Shay.

He inherits a team that has won only once in their last eight games, and will face a side with only one win in their last nine.

Dagenham have only three away wins all season, the fourth-worst record in the league, and have shipped 10 goals in their last four games.

The Shaymen have only scored more than once in one of their last 11 matches, and haven’t won in the league since beating Chester 4-0 on December 23.

Town lost the reverse game 3-1 in September, with Matty Brown scoring a second-half consolation after Halifax had conceded three first-half goals.
