FC Halifax Town can move onto 50 points in the National League if they beat Gateshead on Easter Monday at The Shay (3pm).

The gap to the bottom four in the National League is now six points after Solihull drew 0-0 with Aldershot on Friday, and Halifax lost 2-0 at Fylde.

Town boss Jamie Fullarton said: “We control what we do. Six games to go, a certain number of points needed.

“We have a great opportunity on Monday. That’s the wonderful thing, the games are coming thick and fast, so when the players don’t quite reach the levels required, they’ve got another opportunity to put that in the past.

“We’ve got three in eight days now. It’s a great opportunity, at The Shay, with the fans behind us, for us to put in a performance and get a result.”

asked whether there would be any more players added to the squad from Town’s injured list for the Gateshead game, Fullarton said: “It’s hard to say at the moment. We’ll have a clearer indication over the weekend of where we’re at.”

Gateshead manager Steve Watson succeeded Neil Aspin at the helm in October 2017.

Gateshead have only won once in their last seven away games, keeping a clean sheet in only one of their last 12 away fixtures.

Gateshead drew 0-0 at home to Dagenham and Redbridge on Friday, and have only scored once in their last three games having also drawn a blank in a 1-0 defeat at Macclesfield last Tuesday.

Former Halifax players Jordan Burrow and Richard Peniket are in the Gateshead ranks. Burrow has scored seven goals in 37 appearances this season, while Peniket has notched six in 32.

Town’s Matty Kosylo limped out of Town’s match at Fylde on Friday and is unlikely to feature against Gateshead.

The two teams drew 0-0 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
