Town manager Neil Aspin says Lee Gregory’s scintillating form has seen the striker play his way into the starting line-up.
Gregory bagged nine goals in seven games - all of which Town won - as the Shaymen enjoyed a successful pre-season.
The frontman, 23, faced serious competition for a starting place from Jamie Rainford and summer signings Dale Johnson and Gareth Seddon, but his stunning return has seen him force his way to the head of the pecking order.
“To score that many goals in pre-season is excellent,” said Aspin after Town’s 3-2 win at North Ferriby on Saturday, in which Gregory hit a hat-trick
“I just hope he can continue that on in the league.
“Certainly if there were any doubts about the starting line-up, he is a player who has played his way into it. His finishing at Ferriby was excellent.”
