Halifax Town’s bid to bring Jamie Rainford to the Shay appears to be over after the striker decided his future was with Chester.
The former Marine frontman enjoyed a productive loan spell with the Shaymen but returned after the Boxing Day game against Gainsborough Trinity.
Town are believed to have agreed a fee with Chester but Liverpool-born Rainford has announced on Twitter that he is staying in the north west.
He tweeted: “Finally after the hardest 10 days in football for me, i have decided that Chester FC is where my future lies.
“Want to wish Halifax an there Fans all the best for there support its a special club an defo goin places this year.
“Fresh start at chester time to stand up an be counted. Am gona work as hard as i can an make sure when my time comes i will grab it with both hands. Lookin forward to the near future.”
