Bishop’s Stortford 1 Halifax Town 3

Ross Hannah bagged a hat-trick in only his second game on loan from Bradford City as the Shaymen picked up three valuable Blue Square Bet North points from their long trip to Hertfordshire.

Town got off to a flying start with Hannah putting them in front in the fourth minute after Lee Gregory had played the ball on to him.

And Hannah doubled the Shaymen’s lead seven minutes later when he fired home at the far post from Ryan Toulson’s long throw.

Town continued to be the better side but were pegged back on the stroke of half time when Dwight Gayle forced the ball home from close range after his initial header had come back off the post.

Bishop’s Stortford were the more threatening side in the opening stages of the second half, pinning the Shaymen back for long periods.

But, after Sean Clancy had been brought down 25 yards out, Hannah completed his hat-trick in the 69th minute direct from a free kick.
