FC Halifax Town boss Jim Vince has moved to plug the gaps in his side's defence ahead of tomorrow's FA Trophy trip to Harrogate Railway by signing centre back Danny Meadowcroft from Blue Square North Droylsden.
And he has also added to his attacking options by bringing in youngster Colin Daniel from Crewe Alexandra.
With Tony Barras and Steve Payne both sidelined through injury, Vince was left with just one recognised central defender in Lincoln Adams.
And he moved quickly to bring in 23-year-old Meadowcroft who joined Droylsden in the summer from Northwich Victoria for whom he made nine appearances.
A former Stockport County trainee, he has also played for Ossett Town, Bradford Park Avenue, Morecambe and Mossley.
Daniel is a highly-rated 20-year-old who joined Crewe and who has had loan spells with Leek Town and Grays Athletic.
I have never worked with Danny," said Vince. "I have always wanted to but the timing has never been right.
"I know him well and he is a good player.
"We shouldn't be getting players of Colin's quality but because of the relationship I have with Crewe they are allowing him to come to us. He is very quick and athletic and is exactly what we need."
The duo will be eligible to face Harrogate subject to approval from the FA by noon today.
But Paul Gedman remains a doubt after limping from the field at Nantwich last weekend.
Whoever plays, Vince knows his side must improve from their last two displays against Nantwich and Wakefield.
"If we can win tomorrow we have Leigh Genesis at home in the next round so I suppose that are two good draws," he said. "But we have to perform.
"If we play like we did at Nantwich we will be out of the competition.
"And if we play like we did on Tuesday night it will be difficult for us to progress."
Vince has allowed Danny Davidson to leave the club in search of regular football.
"Danny won't be with us for the next few months," said Vince. "He is not quite right for us at the moment based on his performance the other night when he admitted himself he had not played well.
"I saw bits in the game that I liked but for the moment he is not ready to play for us.
"We have not shut the door on him, but statements have to be made elsewhere and if he does that he will get another opportunity."
Davidson scored twice as a substitute at Ossett Albion in the President's Cup and started Tuesday's game against Wakefield.
Junior Brown is well on his way to recovering from the injury he suffered at Mossley last month.
Vince said that tomorrow's game may be too soon for the tricky winger who could figure at Garforth Town when the Shaymen return to league action on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Town have released Matt Woolley, who was unable to force his way into the first team reckoning, and Anthony Hilton.
