The race for the play-offs in the Skrill Premier reaches the finishing line on Saturday with three of the four places still to be decided.

Cambridge, who travel to Gateshead tomorrow, are guaranteed to finish second and could well face a re-match with the Tynesiders in the play-offs.

Gateshead need to better Braintree’s result against Grimsby to seal their top-five place and could finish as high as third.

Much rests on the Braintree v Grimsby clash, with the Mariners having cemented their play-off spot already, but under threat for that prized third-placed finish, which comes with home advantage in the second-leg of the play-off semi-finals.

A Grimsby win gurantees they will finish third, but a draw or a defeat could let in Town if they draw or beat Kidderminster.

A draw will confirm Halifax’s place in the top-five, while they would need to lose heavily and for Braintree to win heavily for their play-off spot to come under threat.

Gateshead are the form team going into tomorrow’s last-day drama having won four and drawn two of their last six games.

Halifax have also won four of their last six matches, while Grimsby and Braintree have only two wins from their last half-a-dozen outings and Cambridge have lost their last three on the bounce.
