Halifax Town 2 Tadcaster Albion 1

Town booked their place in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup but left it late in their clash with NCE League Premier Division Tadcaster at the Shay.

Both sides had chances in an even opening quarter but it was Tadcaster who opened the scoring on the half hour when a Jamie Hopcutt corner was headed home by Carl Stewart.

Town could have levelled before the break with their best efforts being kept out by Albion keeper who produced a fine double save to prevent Scott McManus’s deflected shot and Danny Holland’s follow up from going in.

Lee Gregory volleyed over Town’s best chance of the early stages of the second half from inside the Albion six yard box after being played in by Harry Winter.

There was plenty of pressure but no end product until the 82nd minute when Jason St Juste got away down the left and crossed for James Dean to head home.

And they bagged a last gasp winner deep into stoppage time when Scott McManus headed home a Kevin Holsgrove cross.
