Man of the match – This was a dismal performance, but understandably so. The players tried, but the week’s efforts had caught up with them. Choosing a man of the match would seem unfair under the circumstances, so I’ll pass on this occasion.

Moment of the match – Scott McManus had our only two shots at goal. As his second attempt went nowhere near, I suppose I should pick his first shot, which went just over the bar.

Moan of the match – Michael Duckworth was clearly fouled in the area right at the death, but the referee wasn’t about to deny Torquay. In hindsight, the League officials and match officials did everything they could to help Torquay, so let’s hope they go down anyway. We also continue to have our disciplinary problems, so I’ll repeat my moan of a few months ago on the subject.

Man of the match - There weren’t many candidates this week but Michael Collins did his best to keep the Shaymen going on a difficult afternoon.

Moment of the match - The Shaymen’s best moment was a 30 yard strike from Scott McManus in the first half. The ball flew inches over the bar with the keeper well beaten.

Moan of the match - The officials were appalling; the referee lost the plot on several occasions waving his cards about to anyone in a blue shirt whilst the linesman awarded the winning goal to Torquay for the ball allegedly crossing the line. It’s was difficult to see why the goal was given at the game but even more difficult to see why watching TV highlights.

Man of the match - After a busy week Micheal Collins stood out as being as focused and calm as ever. It’s easy to see why he was captain in Matty Brown’s absence. He tried to keep the lads going but it was clear this was one game too far in eight days.

Moment of the match - In a game of very few chances for the Shaymen, Macca’s shot just above the top corner was a glimmer of hope. Another moment of note was when the crowd was announced. After 4 games in 8 days it was great to see 132 fans made the over 600 mile round trip.

Moan of the match - A couple this week, first the officials! Particularly the linesman right in front of us, he gave us nothing and it summed up our game when Duckworth was brought down in the penalty area and neither official seemed to notice. The second was the decision to play last Thursday!! We have the next 2 Thursdays free which would have meant the lads would have been a little more energetic today.
