The fund is a £7 million scheme from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation designed to help clubs who have lost out on normal revenue streams due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Joe Connor, from Woodhouse FC, said: “We will use the money to buy our own mower and line marker.

“This will save us money as we won’t have to pay anyone £60-£100 to do it.

“We will also renovate the goal posts and possibly look at keeping the pitch secure as we’ve had a few incidents lately with dog fouling, fires and rubbish being dumped.

“We’re delighted to get the grant and have much needed improvements to our pitch.

“Without the grant we wouldn’t have been able to do what we have planned. We’re hoping a better playing surface will attract some more players too.

“We have, however, had six new signings this season and we can’t wait for the season to start.”
