Halifax AFL confirm season has been declared null and void and records expunged

The Halifax AFL have confirmed that their 2019-20 season has been declared null and void.

All records from the season have been expunged and there will be no promotion or relegation.

The decision is particularly hard on Premier Division leaders Sowerby Bridge, who looked nailed-on to win the title, being three points ahead of second placed Shelf with two games-in-hand.

AFC Crossleys were in pole position in Division One, three points clear of Ryburn United, while in Division Two, Hebden Royd Red Star Reserves were four points clear with a game-in-hand.

Midgley boss Craig Gee said: “It is what it is. It’s something we’ve never known before and something we’ll never know again.
“It’s a shame for Sowerby Bridge and Crossleys, but there’s nothing that can be done about it.”
