Halifax AFL: Midgley next up for Northowram after win boosts their survival hopes

Northowram boosted their hopes of retaining Premier Division status next season when they recorded their second win in their last three outings last week.

That saw them climb two places to take them to fourth from bottom. Rory Thickett joined the Rams in pre season and already has 11 goals in league and cup.

Next up for Northowram is a visit from Midgley United and gives them a chance of adding to their points tally.

Sowerby United are in deep trouble at the foot of the table and have only managed one win in their last seven outings. They host Illingworth St Mary’s in what is a must win game for both sides.

Shelf FC’s title hopes were dealt a big blow with defeat at Shelf United last Saturday. That saw them drop down to third, six points adrift of leaders Sowerby Bridge who have played a game less.

They take on Greetland in the first of four remaining games that they simply have to win to any chance of the title.

Ryburn United can take over at the top of the First Division with a win over Northowram Reserves which would also see them clinch promotion.

Salem host Calder 76 in a meeting of two sides that have narrowly missed out on involvement in the promotion race.

Hebden Royd Red Star Reserves are in pole position in the Second Division. They will be hoping to put Sowerby United Reserves to sword and edge closer to the title.

Ivy House are just a point behind the leaders having played a game more. They face a tricky game at the in form Sowerby Bridge Reserves.

Flying Dutchman had their good run ended by defeat at Shelf FC Reserves last week but should be back to winning ways against St Columbas Res.

Calder 76 Reserves take on AFC Crossleys Reserves in what looks likely to be a very close affair.

In the weather delayed Challenge Cup game Denholme United meet Sowerby Bridge. Table standings point to a Sowerby Bridge win but the pair drew the league game at the Foster Park venue whilst the Bridge won the return fixture by just a single goal. This cup tie could be just as close.

Hebden Royd Red Star visit Elland hoping to play their first game since January 25.  
The first of Invitation Cup semi finals pairs Shelf United Reserves and Greetland Reserves. Shelf will start favourites against the division lower Greetland side.
