Harrogate Railway: Come and see what we’re made of

Harrogate Railway AFC manager Billy Miller has issued a rallying call for football fans in Harrogate to visit Starbeck on Monday night to watch his side play.

Miller is urging fans to head to Station View for 7.45pm to see his troops host Bamber Bridge in the Evo-Stik First Division North, promising good football and entertainment to boot.

He said: “I think people would be pleasantly surprised if they came to see us. We have a decent squad, we are playing well, and it’s great entertainment.”

Miller watched his side lose 2-1 at home to Warrington Town on Saturday before star man Nathan Cartman scored a hat-trick to sink Ossett Albion on Tuesday night.

‘Rail travel to Kendal Town on Saturday before the Bamber test. Well-travelled ‘Rail have been to Colwyn Bay in Wales and Darlington in the past two weeks, but the gaffer reckons his stars have what it takes to handle the pressure as the fixtures keep on coming.

He said: “We are targeting four points from the matches this week. These are teams round about us that we need to test ourselves against.”

Miller revealed that there has been interest from at least one league rival in signing star man Cartman.

But the gaffer will not budge. He said: “Nathan will be with us for the rest of the season. He is very honest, and people have been asking about him, but I think he will stay.”

Lamin Colley has made his move to Vanarama North side Bradford Park Avenue, but the boss has no plans to bring any new faces to Starbeck.

He said: “It’s a really strong league this year, and I think we will just concentrate on the players who are here now.

“I’m not jealous of the teams with money to spend, such as Salford. it is about what we have to do.”

Karl Dean and Harry Coates will return Saturday.
