It means Waiters, who have played three matches to Waiters’ two, have a three point lead at the top.

Green had several players missing for the game on the 3G pitch at Trinity Academy but started well and went ahead after 10 minutes when Andrew Sutcliffe fired past James Bottomley at the end of a good move.

An injury to midfielder Ben Helliwell affected Green’s flow and Waiters created most of the better chances from then on.

Craig Lobley helped the visitors retain their lead up to half time with saves from Oliver Coates and Billy Grogan.

Waiters got their reward 10 minutes after the break when a low, well-struck free-kick from James Waggott found the bottom corner.

Lobley made a couple more good saves and Joe Swallow and John Elliott went close for Green but there was not addition to the scoreline.

Green had a late penalty shout for a body check on Andrew Sutcliffe.

Hollins Holme confirmed their superiority over Halifax Hammers from last season’s Halifax FA Saturday Cup final.

They won 3-2 on that occasion, when they were in the middle section, and it was 2-1 with home advantage this time.

Two goals from George Bamford did the trick.

He showed typical speed to race past the defence for the first from Andrew Butterworth’s through ball just before half time.

The second, on 70 minutes, came when the luckless Hammers ‘keeper, who had played well, was beaten by a soft shot which hit a divot.

Hammers got one back with 10 minutes left but Hollins were not to be denied a top-flight win at the second attempt.

Lee Mount, who had beaten Hollins the previous week, were brought back down to earth when they lost by the odd goal in 11 away to Elland Sports.

There were also plenty of goals in the Oddfellows versus Old Pond match which finished 5-5.

Royd Club hit back with an excellent overhead kick before Slater Barnes made it 2-1 before half time.

Crossley knocked in a corner with his shoulder just after the interval before completing his hat-trick 10 minutes, later latching onto a long ball to fire into the bottom corner.

Andy Blakey’s side got a fifth when Tye Hewson blasted in a Crossley cut back from 12 yards out.

Triangle were in early control, with man of the match Alex Brown pulling the strings.

Brown had several efforts before Queens Head took the lead against the run of play, Jay Thomas drawing Dan Pummel and knocking the ball past the keeper.

Just before half time Luke Flannigan’s cross was punched out by Craig Chew, straight to Brown who calmly steered it in to the net for 1-1.

Lee Emmit headed Queens straight back in front and they had several efforts which might have produced a goal after the break, only for Brown to cross and a defender turn the ball into his own net for 2-2.

Five minutes from the end a free kick was curled high into the penalty area and with goalkeeper Craig Chew blinded by the sun, Danny Watson headed Triangle’s winner.

Ma Bakers FC notched an early-season hat-trick in Division Two with a 6-4 win over Old Pond Reserves.

Both teams played some really good football but Ma Bakers had most of the possession.

Sam Halstead (two), Andy Salm, Robert Morrison (two) and captain Anthony McManamin got the Ma Bakers goals while Richard Dawson, Frank Cullen, Sean Suttle and Wayne Allert replied.

Stand-in ‘keeper Jason Kerry had a fine match for the winners while Salm was outstanding and rewarded by his goal from long range.
