Video - 2015-16 fixtures: Relegated Tigers face Terriers on opening day of campaign

The fixtures for the new campaign have been announced this morning and another intriguing looking first-day clash sees Leeds United welcome Burnley, who accompanied the Tigers back to the Championship in May.

Rotherham United kick off with a home clash against promoted MK Dons, while Sheffield Wednesday are also afforded home comforts, hosting another side promoted to the second tier in Bristol City.

Middlesbrough visit Simon Grayson’s Preston.

In League One, Nigel Adkins’ first game in charge of Sheffield United is at Gillingham, while Bradford City go to Swindon and Barnsley make the short trip to Chesterfield.

Doncaster Rovers face a tough home opener to Bury, while York City kick off in League Two at Wycombe.

Back in the Championship, Huddersfield entertain Jordan Rhodes’ Blackburn in their home opener on August 15, while Hull, Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday face tough trips to Wolves, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich respectively. Leeds visit Reading.

Barnsley host Burton in their first home game of the season on August 15, while Adkins’ league bow at Bramall Lane comes on the same evening against neighbours Chesterfield, their opponents in the final regular home match of last term.

Doncaster face more Lancashire opponents in their second appointment of 2015-16 at Wigan (August 15), while Bradford entertain Shrewsbury. York host Ronnie Moore’s Hartlepool.

Key derby dates see Leeds welcome Sheffield Wednesday in the first month of the season on August 22, the same afternoon as Barnsley entertain Bradford City.

The following weekend (August 29), the Owls host Middlesbrough, who they did the double over last term.

September sees Sheffield United face successive White Rose matches, visiting Bradford on September 19 and taking on Doncaster at home seven days later.

A big South Yorkshire derby in October sees Rotherham host the Owls on October 24, with the Millers seeking payback for last season’s last gasp loss as they aim for their first league win over their near-neighbours since March 1976.

Huddersfield have a White Rose triple-header in November, with Chris Powell’s side hosting Leeds on November 7 before visiting Hillsborough on November 21.

That November 21 date also has another all-Yorkshire affair with Leeds welcoming Rotherham.

Towns’ trio of derbies ends on November 28 at home to Boro, with Barnsley hosting the Blades on the same day to round off a month which is crammed full of derbies.

Simon Grayson returns to Leeds for the first time with Preston on December 19, with the key Boxing Day action seeing Hull host Burnley and Grayson make another return to West Yorkshire to face a former club when Huddersfield host his North End side.

Rotherham also entertain Roses opponents on December 26 in Bolton, while Doncaster host near-neighbours Scunthorpe.

On December 28, two stand-out games see Boro host the Owls and the Blades welcome Bradford, whose manager Phil Parkinson was a big target before Adkins arrived.

The first big Championship derby of 2016 sees Leeds head to Sheffield Wednesday on January 16.

Hull host Wednesday on February 27, with Leeds at home to Huddersfield on March 19.

After their plethora of derbies in November, Chris Powell’s Town have a quartet of all-Yorkshire games in succession in March and April.

After taking on Leeds on March 19, they host the Owls on April 2 and visit Boro on April 5 - in a White Rose Easter.

They then host Hull on April 9, with the Tigers hosting Leeds in their penultimate home game of the season on April 23.

The final day of the season also sees the Tigers face Yorkshire visitors in Rotherham on May 7, while Leeds head to Deepdale.

Other last-day games see Town and Boro host Brentford and Brighton.

Wednesday visit Wolves and Barnsley head to Wigan, with Bradford welcoming Chesterfield.

Doncaster host Burton, with Blades ending the campaign at home to Adkins’ former club Scunthorpe.

York visit Morecambe, with the Minstermen’s final home game of the season coming against Bristol Rovers on April 30.
