Combined with Saturday's win at Bromley, it represents a very satisfactory few days for The Shaymen, who could have won in North Wales.

The basics were all there again from The Shaymen - hard work, diligence, discipline - and Town got stronger as the game went on, with Wrexham holding on for a point in the end,

Four points from two tough away games is a good return from Town, who look well on the way to establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the race for the play-offs.

And they've finally kept a clean sheet.

Volunteers were needed to help clear the pitch of snow before the game, which was probably more goalmouth action than the game provided in an uneventful first-half.

Jeff King twice tested Wrexham keeper Rob Lainton in the first 20 minutes, the second with a rasping free-kick.

But there was almost literally nothing in the game; two sides, both playing 3-4-1-2, closing the other down, staying in shape and offering few glimpses they could open the scoring.

Back at his former club, Luke Summerfield was in the thick of the action, charging back to make a crucial interception, roaming upfield to link play.

Alongside him, Kieran Green and Jack Earing were energetic and full of running.

But Town couldn't get front two Jamie Allen and Tahvon Campbell into the game, just like Wrexham couldn't with their strikers Adi Yussuf and Jordan Ponticelli, with both defences resolute.

Town looked a side who were comfortable in their roles and confident in their ability to perform them, not rushed or inhibited, but also not possessing the quality of delivery or final pass to hurt the hosts.

King was an effective presence down the right flank, and Earing got on the ball in some good areas, but Town didn't have the ball enough in the right areas to threaten on goal, while Wrexham were first to pretty much every free-kick or cross into the box.

At least King's two shots had been on target; Wrexham had yet to test Sam Johnson by half-time, with the hosts, like Town, getting on the ball in the middle third but struggling to get through Halifax's defence, which was again well structured and solid.

If Town were perhaps a little rigid before the interval, there was better movement and interplay after the break, ending in Campbell heading over a cross from the right.

Campbell and Allen started dropping deeper and seeing more of the ball, but Town still lacked the guile to cut through the Wrexham back line.

The hosts looked devoid of ideas and badly lacking in inspiration. The Shaymen simply stayed in their shape out of possession, left no gaps, and Wrexham never really threatened to score.

Halifax did with ten minutes remaining - twice - when keeper Rob Lainton just reached Allen's through ball ahead of Campbell, and then Campbell just failed to connect with King's dangerous cross from the right.

Another King cross a few minutes later just evaded Allen at the far post, with Wrexham looking a beaten side, but Town just couldn't land the killer blow.
