It is understood that the proposal, which will be voted on by clubs, would see the leaders Barrow promoted automatically, with play-offs to decide the other promotion place.

It is understood the final standings will be decided using a points-per-game ratio, which would still leave Halifax in the play-off positions.

It is understood the proposals also include the bottom side in the National League, Chorley, being relegated, and only the top sides in the National League North and South being promoted.

Clubs have until Monday to vote on the proposal.

As things stand, The Shaymen are due to play Boreham Wood in the play-offs.
