Nuneaton 2-3 Halifax - Fans Panel verdict
Adam Heslop
Man of the match
There could only be one player for this this week, Tom Denton, his hat trick was amazing. His second goal was a gift but the others showed why he was brought in by Billy. After the match he came over to say hello, I was eyeing that ball but nobody deserved a signed town football yesterday more than Big Tom.
Highlight of the match
My highlight this week has to be how animated Billy Heath was on the line. As I normally sit at the top of the stand at The Shay I don’t normally see this so close up. The Nuneaton fans behind me were giving him some stick but he either didn’t hear them or didn’t care.

Hide AdWhat a fantastic start to the season with three points but my moan has to be that we conceded two goals. I stand by my prediction that we’ll finish top but we really need to tighten up at the back, we won’t win this league with performances like that every week as exciting as it was.
Andrew Mann
Man of the Match
Much credit to Josh McDonald who was superb but man of the match has to be debutant hat trick hero Tom Denton.
Highlight of the match
Best moment of the game for me was when Denton rose high to power home Kevin Roberts free kick to put the Shaymen 3-1 up.
Moan of the match
Moan of the match was Town’s defence switching off soon after taking the lead to concede from a set piece, thankfully not proving costly in the end!

Moan of the match
The referee starting the game three minutes early with Halifax fans queuing to come in. Some missed the first goal scored.

Hide AdIt was a concern that at 3-1 up, we went too defensive. I have no problem with defending in general, but we pulled back much too far, letting Nuneaton back into the game. Our marking was poor for their second goal.
