Campion 0 Ovenden West Riding 2

Ovenden West Riding completed the most successful season in their history when they lifted the WRCAL Premier Division Cup at Campion.

This victory completed a treble of trophies to add to the Premier Division title and the Halifax FA Cup; their only blip being a County Challenge Cup semi final defeat by eventual winners Fields AFC.

After a evenly contested first half, played in torrential rain, both sides had chances to open the scoring.

Campion’s Jordan Missin shot wide from 15 yards with only Chris Moroney to beat while at the other end Jordan Coduri and Andy Bailey forced Ivan Willis into a couple of fine saves.

West Riding stepped up a gear after the break and the growing influence of Damian Randall saw his persistence and fine centre rewarded after 65 minutes with Coduri heading Ovenden in front.

Campion were still in the hunt but Kevin Megson and Graham Hall nullified the threat of Steve Hollingsworth and Missin.

Ovenden doubled their advantage in the 75th minute when Matt Jones picked up a stray pass deep in the Campion half and his delightful chip from 25 yards was too good for Willis.

Campion tried hard to get back into the game but Moroney kept a clean sheet with a couple of good saves from Liam Charles and Missin.
